Humankind – An Amazing Miracle

To think that human intelligence and consciousness is in the brain is similar to thinking that the Internet is found in your computer or cellphone. Our brain is sort of a radio, tuning into different sensors, and converging that information into a single vision of perceived reality. Whatever we see around us, was once just a thought inside someone, everyone has the potential to create something new, it depends on how hard we strive to be ‘Creative.’ Humankind are considered to be the top of creation because they have the privilege of self-realization. We are granted a will and are allowed to reason.

Humankind has the ability to evolve to a higher elevation or fall to the lowest trenches, we have the potential to be the most perfect creation. The emphasis is on the potentiality, because the opposite also holds true, we are also capable of falling below animals. We have an innate ability to make decisions. When humans act from the perspective that we have to work hard and achieve, in order to be worthy, important, intelligent, and so on, all what are doing is working on the inner aspects of ourselves. But in order for intellectual and creative growth, one must we must suffer from some kind of emotional trauma and hardship. One must not forgot that our intellectual and creative efforts are a part of an infinite ocean of knowledge, just like waves in the ocean have the ability to move the water itself. No effort shall ever go wasted.

No one can deny that the very composition of ourselves, the atoms, that make our molecules, are traceable to the centers of ultra massive stars that exploded their inner selves forming the chemistry of life. We are connected to each other biologically, to the earth chemically, and the rest of the universe on an atomic and sub-atomic level. – ‘Kun fayakūn (Reference to the Holy Quran cited as a Symbol / Sign of God’s Mystical Creative Power)

Verily, when He intends a thing, His Command is, “be”, and it is! – Surah Yaseen, 36 :(81-83)

All the perceived flaws and limits of our personality and ability are blessing in disguise, including each and every one of our ups and downs that we have had along this journey called life.  One must work to counter-act these perceived flaws and weaknesses within ourselves which make up our ego, and then decide to change, we have the ability to effectively heal ourselves, by first identifying our imperfections, and later seeking to remove them. – Tazkiah Al Nafs

In order to progress, we must keep our minds open, and engage in a repetitive gain and practice of knowledge. By changing our thoughts and persistently practice new habits (behaviors or skills), we also retrain our brains. We have the ability to  formulate new neural pathways, make new synaptic connections, and veritably enhance the part of our brains which corresponds and correlate to what we are practicing. That’s growth, at least on a neurological level.

Learning a new computer software or a new language enhances the learning and memory centers of the brain, work on a tough design problem and develop centers relating to problem solving, and so on. By choosing to think with an innovative mindset we literally transform our brains on a cellular level, and thus maximize our intellectual and creative faculties.

Current medical research validates the neuro-plasticity of our brains, meaning that our brain’s are not hardwired, our thoughts and ideas have to ability to change the brain structure itself.  Our brain does not have a fixed neuronal structure throughout our lives. Surprisingly our brains are meant to be constantly changing. Meaning unless we learn new things, we cannot evolve intellectually.

Your intention to learn something new, to learn a new skill or master a new subject or a language, is what determines the capabilities and potential of your brain. In other words to a great extent it is you, yourself that determines your intelligence, abilities, potential, and creativity based on either the limitations you set for yourself, or the limitations you choose to overcome.

We tend to forget that all that we are able to do now was only acquired through persistent practice and conscious thinking over time. The most important factor is maintaining the attitude of persistence. Be young at heart just like young children do not care if they fail at something. They keep trying until they succeed.

True mastery has little to do with any kind of talent or specialized knowledge. It is simply the ability to over-ride negative impulses such as anger, fear and doubt, and to follow our passions and inspirations with good spirit, enthusiasm, confidence, flexibility and hope.

Our brain always respond to our attention and to our will. New thoughts,  thinking patterns, emotional responses, and new skills create new neural pathways in the brain. They make the brain better, more intelligent, and more proficient at doing whatever we have chosen and trained ourselves to do.

We must not forgot, that we are after all an intrinsic part of the universe, and our sense of reality is just a focal point of where a part of the universe was given consciousness. Everything will happen exactly when it is supposed to. All that we can ever do is prepare ourselves by using our time wisely. I can’t think of a single thing, except what a beautiful state of being. We truly are ‘Ashraf-Al-Makhluqaat’ An amazing miracle!
